Embroidery machines are able to create stitches through a mechanism involving the top thread and the bobbin thread. The bobbin thread is located at the bottom of the material being stitched and gets the thread from the top thread, in this way creating a loop.

Embroidery is the craft of accenting fabric or other materials using a needle to apply thread. Garments are placed on to a hoop compatible with the embroidery machine and a backing is used to ensure that the stitching comes out perfectly. In modern days, embroidery is usually seen on caps, hats, coats, blankets, dress shirts, denim, dresses, stockings, and golf shirts. Embroidery is available with a wide variety of thread or yarn colour.

Normal embroidery is your standard stitching on garments, or flat designs for hats.
